Teknia signs a contract with Endesa to increase its long-term renewable electricity supply for five of its factories in Spain
- The total volume of energy that Endesa provides for these production plants amounts to a total of 30 GWh/year
- The agreement includes that two thirds of the energy must be certified as renewable energy
Endesa and Teknia, the Spanish multinational Group specialized in manufacturing metal and plastic components for mobility solutions, have signed a long-term energy contract for five of the industrial group’s plants in Spain. Under this agreement, the energy company will provide Teknia with up to 30 GWh/year to cover 100% of the energy needs of these factories. Most of this energy, up to two thirds, will come from Renewable Guarantees of Origin (GoO), which means that Teknia will be able to increase its supply of renewable electricity.
The agreement will allow Teknia to have a better price stability horizon for five of the nine plants it has in the country, one in Aragon, two of them in Cantabria, one in Catalonia and one in the Basque Country. These plants are dedicated to aluminium injection, machining and stamping technologies.
With this contract, signed with Endesa, Teknia advances in its sustainability strategy, which is an integral part of the multinational’s activity, committed to the manufacture of environmentally friendly mobility. It does so in different areas of Spain, aware of the need to offer solutions that meet the needs of its customers, whom it accompanies in its strategy. In this way, Teknia is making the goal of consuming electricity from renewable energies a reality in all its Spanish plants.
Javier Ferrer, Endesa’s Commercial Director for Southern Customers, said: “This new contract marks the start of a long-term collaboration between Endesa and Teknia based on the supply of green energy, which we hope to extend to other collaborations aimed at decarbonisation”.
For his part, Teknia’s Director of Operations, Rafael Morales, explained that “with the signing of this agreement, Teknia contributes to promoting a more sustainable industrial and energy model, encouraging the development of renewable energy sources, while providing our customers with access to it in their production processes and therefore to the entire mobility value chain”.
